I had an idea that like… Alice has a daughter Emily, and her father is Alfred. He came to England as a transfer student, visiting her university. They dated briefly then one thing led to another and she got pregnant. She told him but of course things were tough because he was signed up to join the army and eventually he is killed over seas, leaving Alice to work +4 jobs to make ends meet, dropping out of college, moving in with her brother since her parents somewhat disown her.

Of course, things get tough when Francis enters the picture, pissing her off at work, thinking she’s some junior in college, a girl with an attitude, and after one fight during work her boss fires her. Francis feels really guilty and when he finds out this is the only job she has that allows her to see her daughter before she goes to bed and take her to school in the morning. He figures out a way to hire her back and then idk
